Tara and her immortal family spend at least 50 years in the shadows to be reborn into society. Through Tara’s memories, she explains that they have to protect their secrets. Being reborn is their normal and their way to “survive”. Instead of hiding in Bali, the South American Islands, or Caribbean islands to rest, they learn to fight. Along with learning new fighting skills, they are learning to enhance their natural abilities until they rejoin society again. There seems to be no real question as to why they are learning to fight. When will they use the fighting skills in their new society?

Of course the readers discover the immortals purpose in the end, but there seems to be some things left out of Tara’s memories. When will they ever truly need the skills if they are in hiding? Why was it so important to learn to fight instead of resting? And last of all, who gave them new identities? I’m asking questions, I know the answers to but I’m open to discussing these questions with the readers. From my book, I created a character who is telling her story solely from memory. As we all know, memories are not always reliable.

As the readers reach the end of my book, the largest question (and the elephant in the room) remains: What part of Tara’s memories are real or true?
